Eddie F. Gay
Ed Gay is an Account Sales Executive in Commercial Lines for Brown & Brown Flagship.
Ed began his career in the insurance industry in 1985 with Farm Bureau. He was hired as a Claims Coordinator and advanced into sales shortly thereafter. In 1987 he accepted the Commercial Lines Manager’s position with Insurance Professionals, Inc., in Richmond, VA. In 1990 Ed went to work for Peerless Insurance Company as a Territorial Marketing Representative. There he advanced to Senior Marketing prior to accepting a similar position with USF&G in 1994. In December of 1996, Ed joined Royal & SunAlliance Insurance Company as Production Underwriter for Eastern VA and he was responsible for new commercial production and underwriting for approximately twenty agencies and brokers in Northern Virginia and Tidewater.
Since joining Peerless Insurance Company in 1990, Ed has worked closely with the Flagship Group underwriting new accounts and in September of 1999 joined the Flagship team as an Account Sales Executive. He has a variety of responsibilities including: customer service and asset protection for existing clients; underwriting; generating new business leads and developing new client accounts; accounts receivables; and consulting on policy language and coverage.
Prior to his insurance career, Ed received his Bachelor’s Degree from Virginia Tech. In 1992 Ed received the distinguished designation of Certified Insurance Counselor from the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. Over the past fifteen years Ed has attended numerous insurance courses and continuing insurance education.
Ed, along with his wife Beth and their two sons Hunter and Travis, live in Chesapeake, VA
